#Starbound ps4 update#Our focus has shifted back to PC in the past few weeks and we’re planning to have an update ready very soon. Lastly, we know it’s been some time since we published a Starbound PC version update – most of this year we’ve been focused on Xbox porting work. In October 2018 during an announcement of the game coming to the Discord Store, Chucklefish finally, FINALLY gave us a small update on the game: It could be that they just wanted to launch the game in 1.0 before releasing it on other platforms, but that was over 3 years ago that it went out of beta and still nothing on the matter at hand.Īfter all this time we can at least say the Xbox One port is confirmed to still be coming. So why is this? Well, Chucklefish absolutely jumped the gun by announcing this game WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too early, I mean, early 6 years later and not a single peep on the PlayStation versions is just saddening at that point as someone who loves Terraria so much. Flash forward to 2019 and yet again we have radio silence for the Xbox community. Out of nowhere the developers announced a Xbox One version in 2015 in the Xbox Preview Program and it was meant to release later that year and never did. We had a small update at E3 2014 with a new trailer but after that it was radio silence for the PlayStation community. #Starbound ps4 Ps4#In 2013 at Gamescom, Chucklefish announced that the game would be coming to PS4 and PS Vita. Unfortunately for most, they likely will never get the chance to play the game. At the time it was a hot game that gamers were so egar to get their hands on. You're not obliged to care, or waste your time complaining about a project that you've clearly lost interest in.Chucklefish’s Starbound is a 2D space exploration game, similar to that of Terraria. It's still in development, the devs are not stopping, and the final version will be released when it's ready. Plenty of other developers would have released said buggy mess as a final product and left it there, or not even get that far.īesides, saying "This game was supposed to be out in insert year here" won't make any difference. I'd much rather see a developer take their time and work on something, even if initial estimates proved inaccurate. I'm sure you'd be complaining just as much if the devs went "Well, we said we'd release it now, so here's your buggy mess". It wouldn't be the first time this has happened to a project, and it will not be the last. There have been old estimates for release dates, to be sure, which proved inaccurate. welcome to games development things will almost certainly not go to plan. It's pretty sad, but I said it in 2013, 2014, 2015, and it looks like I'll be saying it in 2016 (what a massive letdown it's been this long), Terraria 4 will be released long before we see Starbound get an official release.Ĭlick to expand.Right. I'm guessing he got that figure from the fact that this game has no end in sight and the devs keep stringing us along with the "look at these totally awesome and totally not a stall tactic furniture sets we worked on for an entire month". I bought Starbound early in 2013 because I was excited we would finally get a space Terraria and all the things they promised sounded too good to be true, but had I known it was going to take this long, I never would have wasted my money and I won't be duped by this dev team again. You might remember that I've been a supporter of this game for many years and I stood up for the devs time after time, but after 4+ years for an indie game and all we see are minor attack animation updates or monster AI tweaks month after month, it's not worth it to look like a fool trying to defend Chucklefish anymore.
